Leadership development for a new era of higher education

The Academy for Innovative Higher Education is the umbrella program for two distinctive development tracks: an eight-month intensive program and shorter multi-day boot camps aimed at specific topics or functions within an institution. A third track, an online course offered through edX, will be launched in late 2017.

The academy is not just focused on theory, but on best practices in all industries undergoing change. This is not a training program on how to be a college president or dean today. This is a program for education entrepreneurs. Fellows in all of the academy's programs learn critical thinking, analysis and design skills needed to solve complex issues facing higher education in the future. With a wave of retirements expected in higher-education administration in the coming decade, one goal of this program is to create a pool of go-to administrators to help lead institutions in these challenging times.

The curriculum of the academy's programs focuses on the most pressing issues facing the future of higher education, with an emphasis on big ideas and strategy. The goal is that participants will engage in-depth with the material, leave with detailed knowledge and perspectives on the subject, and bring that expertise back to their campuses or to their next leadership position.

Smily post-it and glasses

The academy combines big picture thinking about higher education, hands-on design work and top-notch leadership coaching. It provides access to top academic leaders and opportunities to build a strong network of peers.
